Woori America Bank, formerly Hanvit America Bank, was originally formed under the name of Korea Commercial Bank of New York as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Commercial Bank of Korea in 1984 under laws of New York State. In the year of 1999, the Bank changed its name from Korea Commercial Bank of New York to Hanvit America Bank and changed to Woori America Bank on May 20th, 2002 to coincide the name with the bank's holding company. Since its inception, we have concentrated on providing much needed financial services to the then under-served ethnic Korean Community in the New York metro-politan area including northern New Jersey area.
We offer a wide range of personal and commercial banking services combined with the personal touch and convenience of a local community bank, and yet all of the sophisticated resources of a major banking corporation. We provide a variety of deposit products and engage in a full complement of lending activities including residential and commercial real estate, trade finance and capital loans.
With these ongoing efforts, Woori America Bank formerly Hanvit America Bank was chosen by American Banker's Magazine as the 10th best Community bank among 9600 Community banks in the United States in June, 2001.
